| | | Re: Orca Wild spirit, I visit an open air museum called Killhope , its an old lead mine that is surrounded by a pine forest that still supports Red Squirrel. Guess what, last time I visited I was informed by a staff member that the forestry commission where going to log it as the numbers of Reds there dont constitute a conservation order !!!
Sometimes I just cant work out what we are trying to do in this country??
We shoot all the Greys and take away the habitat of the Reds. |

| | | Re: Orca Yes they have chopped down all the pines on the opposite side of the road to the lead mine museum. The pines surrounding the museum (on the same sade of the road) are still there, at the moment. Thousands of trees felled however, in a place that supported lots of wildlife, including crossbills, roe deer, foxes and possibly badgers as well as the red squirrels. Such a shame.

From helping the hubbs-seaworld mammal stranding team over in florida. When dolphins are reported dead, they go and pick the up and take them for a necropsy. Sometimes a dolphin willl have a fish lodged in its throat. When i was over there back in november a dolphin had choked on a fish. |

| | | Re: Orca When I heard that a coalition government had got in I thought oh my God! people don't realise that they can do anything now. And that can be to the detriment of the environment. Looking at the big picture, I do not know where we are heading. The face of the British countryside may change drasticly in the next hundred years. It may be that two thirds of the forests and woods in the British countryside in the future will be Pines. Old English woods may be a thing of the past. I get sick of hearing that we are on the right track, because we plant sustainable forests, yea! Pines. To the greedy out there, they are doing their bit; by planting fast growing trees. sustainable of course. I love pines but don't get me wrong. Give me an old English forest any day, and that is our identity and also the supporting environment of our Beautiful British Wild Life. I do hope I have put that right.
