| | | realeasing mouse snow last nite our norty kitten brought in an alive little mouse  as it was 3am we decided to put it in an old fish tank with hamster food and bedding, we expected it 2 die off shock but this moring its fine.
would it have been hiberating ? and we are due snow will i be realeasing it out 2 its death ? any good tips 4 realease ? |

| | | Re: realeasing mouse snow Mice dont hibernate, and so it should be fine to release somewhere where there's lots of vegetation cover. Just keep the cat in when you do!

| | | Re: realeasing mouse snow Unless its a dormouse it wont hibernate. Its most likely a wood mouse or a house mouse. Your best releasing it in a sheltered location preferably near a natural food source, areas with lots of berry forming shrubs/trees, edge of a stubble field, under a bramble bush. Usually it would have a nest or burrow and possibly a food cache but it would be impossible to find these. Releasing it in woodland would also be better, here there will be a warmer microclimate and more logs etc to hide under.
If you can identify it first and let us know what species it is, or take a photo and upload it here. |

| | | Re: realeasing mouse snow In the day as long as it isnt highly disturbed. Release it into some cover near old logs, fallen trees, undergrowth, thick leaf litter etc. |
