Some people incorrectly use the term 'field mice' when referring to the smaller species of vole (i.e. bank voles and field voles). | Although Wood Mouse is currently the official common name it is synonomous with Long-tailed Field Mouse (the Handbook of Mammals of the British Isles), so I don't think you can say there is no such thing as a field mouse! It's like saying Bonxies don't occur here.
I accept that many non-naturalist country men may call voles "field mice" as a generic if inaccurate term though. |

| | Re: Mice ? Ha,
Still haven't managed a picture and they only climb onto the bird table at night so it's more difficult to get a pic.
Even though it has been snowing a lot and I'd expect them to be hibernating I've found droppings on the bird table...
maybe it would be better to remove the food at night so they can't have it but perhaps that's unfair
Anyway I haven't noticed them coming in the house or the garage so they aren't bothering us and if I did see one I doubt I'd say anything because a certain person in my home may put mouse poison down
