| | | Harbour porpoise?
Found this small porpoise on a beach in E Lothian near Edinburgh. Was told it may be a harbour porpoise. had a nasty gash on the side of it's head and just below the upper fin. Very fresh - no smell at all. Any views on Id or cause of death?

Looks like a harbour porpoise to me based on size and shape. |

Yes looks like a harbour porpoise. If you don't get an answer regarding cause of death, try contacting Dr.Kevin Robinson at CRRU on the Moray Firth: Cetacean Research & Rescue Unit | Home
He and his team will be able to tell you a probable answer.
