Black Squirrels being killed regularly...

I have noticed recently that black squirrels are being hit and killed by traffic in my area on a fairly regular basis- they seem to dash out in front of vehicles unexpectedly and are always feeding very close to the roadside, is this common ?

Grey Squirrels that are grey in colour are also frequent road traffic victims. Perhaps you notice the black ones more because they stand out better against the grey road surface. Or perhaps you have a particularly high frequency of the black as opposed to the grey colour form. If you can, please report these sightings to the local mammal recorder.
