Mammal home?

When clearing leaves and winter pruning, my wife came across this domed bunch of leaves with what looks like an entrance tunnel towards the bottom right hand corner of the structure. The whole dome is about 2 feet across. We do have visiting hedgehog(s) and wonder if this might be a winter residence?



Needless to say, all has been left as is.

Looks like one, hard to say for sure though without seeing the contents, hedgehogs usually have quite a neat nest, but this would be within this mound of leaves, made up of compacted leaves, grass and a hedgehog. I think you did the best thing in leaving it.
