| | | HUGE sand mound in garden?????? Hi, i am new to this site so hi everyone.
basically, i noticed the other day a random pile of sand on my slabs outside, was confused but thought nothing of it. Swept it back into the cracks and up the wall.
Then today, i get up for work and notice that where my black bags of rubbish were were all ripped open with a HUGE mound of sand underneath.
Literally 4/5 shovels worth of sand.
I presumed rats as all the bags were ripped open, yet the sand part confuses me??
Can anyone help me on this with any ideas?
oh, just for the record.. when i noticed the first load of sand there wasn't any black bags or any rubbish present.
Thanks

Is there enough of a gap anywhere for a Mole to burrow up from below? I can't think of anything else that would cause heaps of sand, as you describe.
I don't think the sand piles and the ripped rubbish bags are connected!
Maybe you've had another hungry night time visitor too!

I think you shouldn't under-estimate the tunnelling and earth moving capabilities of the wood mouse ( Apodemus sylvaticus) ... it's not unusual for us to find huge piles of earth & sand that have appeared overnight inside our aviaries ... the culprit having been 'caught' red-handed on our IR cameras. |
