| | | Skunk sighting? I have just read a post on a hunting forum claiming that the poster, who lives near Kidderminster, sighted a skunk as he returned from a night out lamping. He videoed it, and the vid is now on U-tube. Type in "wild skunk kidderminster." It is pretty much accepted by hunters that skunks are breeding in the Forest of Dene. Are they spreading?

| | | Re: Skunk sighting? I thought they had caught the skunk in the Dean forest last year. Maybe this is another escape from a breeder or pet?

| | | Re: Skunk sighting? As best I recollect, a skunk was caught in Dean last year, but it is received wisdom amongst hunters that they are breeding there. Since hunters and skunks have certail commonalities - nocturnal, shy, smelly - they may well be right.
Thanx for your tactful correction of my spelling!

| | | Re: Skunk sighting? My avatar was taken in the Forest of Dean last year, they are commonly kept as pets and until recently the scent glands could be removed and are apparently good pets. Since the ban or removing scent glands individuals are increasingly being dumped and yes the Forest of Dean is favourite site for dumping animals.
The young skunk was caught in the Forest of Dean and my photo taken after that date.
