New Animals to add to my list

Hi everyone, I've just joined the WAB gang and was hoping to get some idea about places to see some new mammals and birds. I'm a keen angler so I do get to see some nice stuff on the river bank but I am hoping to start ticking more species off my list in the near future.
My first target is a wild deer, any species. Does anyone know anywhere near to the Black country that I could make a start on my list please?
I've never actually seen a wild one. Well, i did see the backside of one, bounding over the fence but thats it so far.
Any advise would be great.

I don't know the area very well but Cannock Chase seems the obvious choice. For red deer being in the right place is often enough to spot them unless they're particularly shy. Smaller species such as roe deer and muntjac are often easier to see in winter when most undergrowth has died back and tend to be a little off the beaten track.

If you do see a deer and it's wild and knows where you are, don't expect to see it for long!
