I'm from N.Leics and I've spent many happy hours mooching round Lady Jane's old gaff. Still got the peacocks around the old house? And all those hollow oak trees?. They used to have a lot of half-wild reds there as well. The best way to enjoy Bradgate is to cycle through on a full moon night with no lights on, from the Rothley end. The deer come into the areas open to the public, Reynard comes out for a bunny hunt, the owls are hunting for mouses. Get to the Newtown Linford end, step on to one of the little islands, sit down, roll a peaceful fag, and squeak in a fox. MAGIC!

With a bit of patience and observation good deer images are easy enough to get at Bradgate especially this time of year.
Early morning and evening are best if you want to get up close and personal with the big Red Stags, a word of warning though, dont get too close, they are bad tempered big fellas that are currently pumped up with hormones so a bit of care and respect should be exercised.
These are a few images that I have taken there in the last 10 days.
If anyone is planning to visit Bradgate for the rut in the next few weeks its always worth dropping me a quick PM, if I'm not working I'll be happy to act as a guide for you. |

I'm guessing Bradgate is too far away for a day trip.

I miss Bradgate...I used to live only a few miles away in Glenfield, it's a bit of a trek now since I moved to Wales!! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
