| | | Red deer rut question I try every year to go and watch my local rut. After just looking at Cordaline's excellent pics I'm beginning to wonder if I'm a bit of a wuss as I'm very wary of getting too close. Unless of course Cordaline has a stonking great big camera lens lol.
So my question is, just how safe/dangerous are stags during the rut?
Part of my nervousness is perhaps due to the fact that I go alone, I have never seen anyone else whilst I am out, so if something did happen there would be nobody to hear me scream lol.
To be honest I'm happy just watching the whole thing from afar with my bins and getting cr*p pics that remind me of what I have seen but it would be nice to feel confident to get a little bit closer.
Anyone have any views? |

Certainly makes sense that the deer will be tamer where they are used to seeing more people.
Just waiting for my camera battery to charge up and then I'll be off to see what is going on. |

Be careful

Julian | Well I got back safe and sound. The deer were on the other side of the glen and although there was a lot of roaring and the occasional small chase it was pretty quiet. Still enjoyed watching it from afar and had a tantalising view of a BOP in the distance but was unable to make out what it was. |

Julian | Thanks Julian. Would have been better if the sun had come out but it waited until I was walking home lol. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
