| | | Rut in Normanby Hall The rut is underway in Normanby Hall deer park. Although the deer are in a large enclosure (several acres) they allow relatively close approach (although a couple with a dog made them quite nervous and I couldn't understand why dogs should be allowed inside. My kids enjoyed watching the stag digging the ground and adorning his antlers with bracken, and my daughter noticed how the stag kept all the hinds together, walking and bringing back any strays. They were both very entertained with deer watching, hiding behind a tree armed with binoculars. I definitely recommend it for young children.
