| | | Re: Bat of the Day! Thanks Deb and Farplace, as you might be able to see, the lower one in the top image is the stronger of the two and more adventurous, maybe a day or so older.
It's being adventurous that gets them into situations where they cannot get back to the roost, falling through narrow gaps between pipework and the like.
One of the difficulties is being able to give them regular feeds at this age so they're off to the specialist carer this afternoon and will be re-located a.s.a.p. when they've been given a clean bill of health. |

| | | Re: Bat of the Day! Triple bats of day last night.
Returned a fallen week old pup to a difficult to access roof roost. The end cap of the ridge coverings had to be removed to carefully place the bat into the small void under the ridge. Bats were entering the roost via very narrow gap behind the plastic end cap with no landing area except on the hard shiny plastic fascia board.
Found this single brown long eared bat roosting in cobwebby roof timbers in an old barn.
On way home near midnight released a common pipistrelle at the place it was found. Flew off like a good 'un, it had been in care for two weeks. |
