| | | Re: Badger cull now planned for England I would support a boycott of beef but one person would not do much on their own..
If everyone stopped eating beef the farmers would have to find another root like looking to inoculate the animals instead of killing our badgers..

Hit them where it hurts in the pocket.. | Good principle but ..... the impetus for the cull is coming from Dairy Farmers !
The current proposals for 'licencing' - which will allow farmers to trap and shoot on their own land (with only minimal supervision !!!) does open up the possibility of having meat and milk from Badger friendly farms (where either no action is taken or vaccination is used as an alternative to killing) which in turn could be used to place pressure on the Supermarkets to stock only products from Badger friendly sources.

Shooting free running badgers is in the proposals, which could mean wounding badgers - if they come out of their setts at all if they can smell someone hanging about...
Apart from writing to MPs, lobbying supermarkets etc, FILL IN THE CONSULTATION (sorry for caps!). The link is above. In Wales, the unions had an easy response form on their websites, and handed out copies of the consultation at all the agricultural shows, this resulted in a disproportionate standardised response to the consultation which was taken into account.
Do you think killing badgers is a good idea - Yes please!
Members of the public largely had little idea of the consultation or where to find it on the Welsh Assembly website.
Fill in the consultation, send it to all friends, keep the link alive on responses. This way the Government has to take opinions into account. If there are questions, I expect there are people on WAB who can help!
