| | | Strange Noise coming from Brambles! Hello
I have an allotment across the road from my house (in a small village). For the past couple of weeks I have often heard the most bizarre noise coming from the brambles next to my plot. It is thick brambles so I cannot venture in to take a look. The best way I can describe the noise is like a pig grunting. I know we have muntjacs up there, although it is not their characteristic bark that I know well. Do they make a grunting noise also? If not, I just don't know what it could be. I have just been up there now, and it frightened the life out of me, and I have heard it in the dark up there too.....
Can anyone enlighten me????

| | | Re: Strange Noise coming from Brambles! hmmm, I'd be surprised if its a hog. I know a fair bit about them, and would find it hard to believe. I know they are noisy, but this is loud enough for people on the plot 150m away to hear. But I won't discount it!!! |

| | | Re: Strange Noise coming from Brambles! I've come across a similar thing some years ago and stopped for a while to find an adult badger emerge from under the brambles. Could be youngsters or an adult feeding on blackberries.
Wild boar have very sensitive hearing and whenever I've been near them in thick scrub they've been silent until the moment they decide to burst out and run off. |

| | | Re: Strange Noise coming from Brambles! From your description, I've recently heard a similar noise in a nearby wood. Think it could be an escapee pig from the neighbouring farm though!
I'd say your noise is probably badgers. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
