| | | 4 baby (field?) mice, unknown age Hi All,
My name's Holly and I've joined the forum today as I have a 'wildlife emergency'. I found a mouse nest as we lifted a slab in the garden, the mum ran off and as we have 2 cats and a dog I thought it best to bring them in.
I've put them in a cardboard box with a warm bottle wrapped in a towel for warmth, and there are 4 of them. From this pic, is anyone able to identify the species and age, and therefore let me know what I should be feeding with them and what their needs are please? Having looked at some other posts, I suspect they may be just over two weeks, so have prepared a sugary solution (as it's Sunday no pet shops are open to buy kitten milk from) and have also put some raisins in with them. I'm based at Peterborough and have tried to ring all local wildlife rescues with no success, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

| | | Re: 4 baby (field?) mice, unknown age Its a bank vole. This looks about weaning age (weaned at 14 days) this one is perhaps a little younger, have you tried it on solids like cereals? fruit (apple would be good). In future it would be best to leave them as the female would most likely have returned. |

| | | Re: 4 baby (field?) mice, unknown age It looks like a wood mouse to me, this one would be leaving the nest soon, they will be ok, feed them on chopped peanuts, cheese, seeds, biscuit, and a little fruit, they might even like a bit of cooked chicken. Pauline. |

Field mice and wood mice are the same species too. |
