Shetland Risso's Dolphins
Fellow Shetland Wildlife guide Jon Dunn and I had a wonderful experience yesterday morning photographing a pod of Risso's Dolphins in Mousa Sound, Shetland. This follows hot on the heels of another amazing encounter also here in Shetland in July.

The pod numbered around 20 animals and there were at least three calves. One was so small it still had the foetal creases.

Excellent sightings. I've had the pleasure of seeing quite a few Risso's on the Biscay crossings, but nothing as intimate as this.
