Transporting Grey Squirrels ~ What is the Law?

A rather interesting question has been posed on the Forum today.

Does anyone here have any knowledge of The Law on this?

What is the Law regarding the transportation of Grey Squirrels?

Common sense would say to me that, if you wished to or had to take it to a Vet to be humanely destroyed, then of course you would be allowed to transport it, in a cage, inside a sack, as the means of causing the least amount of stress.

However, call me an old cynic but the law doesn't always seem to make too much sense at times, so it's a question well worth asking.
