| | | Re: Whales in Scotland It's lovely to see whales up close. I was fortunate to go whale watching off America's east coast quite some time ago and was able to see minke and humpback whales. From that moment I was hooked. That was a time before digital photography and the pictures were nothing to write home about. It would be fantastic to see these beautiful animals off our shores. It's always tragic when a whale gets beached. |

| | | Re: Whales in Scotland I know this is an old post but I have just joined this website. I am looking at going to Loch Etive near Oban later next year. I read in some posts on another website that there was a rumour that an Orca had been seen in Loch Etive. This sounds a little hard to beleive but can anybody confirm or deny this?? |

/Anneli | Hello Anneli - Welcome to The Forum ....
One of the best wildlife boats for whales, basking sharks, dolphins etc. - as well as birds - runs out of Arisaig on the West Coast.
The skipper is very experienced, and though he runs his boat as a scheduled service (to the islands of Rum, Eigg and Muck) he always advises that your arrival time back is dependant on what he encounters - If he spots something on the way back in, then you're probably going to be late!! Best time is the late summer months - plenty of guidance on the website. http://www.arisaig.co.uk/wildlife-cruises.asp
