| | | Harvest Mice Have decided to have a go at photographing some of my harvest mice recently, i have been using the biggest colony here as there are a number of braver individuals who are in a way tame, although to be honest i think they see you more as an object to climb as opposed to someone holding them. it does however take a while to get them used to the smell of your hands.
This colony currently consists of 11 individuals, there are approximately 6 adults and 5 youngsters and a litter due any time in the next 48 hours. Given the right opportunities they build absolutely fantastic nests which the female has constructed over the last 2 days (will attempt a pictures of this at some point).
Uhhh got this far and realised pictures wouldnt upload due to file size! here is al ink to them for now ... will have to have to resize a few later! Flickr: AlexEames' Photostream

EDIT: we arent allowed to use external images from places such as photobucket are we?

| | | Re: Harvest Mice You will see the further back you go the worse the pictures get in my photostream Some of them are terrible not sure what inspired me to upload them... suppose its just part of getting better with practise.
Here are the small size of 2 pictures including guilty mouse
Guilty Mouse
Had to shrink them down a lot and reduce JPG quality to reduce the filesize... any idea what the size limit is? (i've not really looked properly but not seen it anywhere obvious)
EDIT: with regards to the pregnant female, she gave birth last night. I havent spotted where the litter is as its not possible to search without disturbing them. Probably won't see them until they venture out in 3 weeks time.

| | | Re: Harvest Mice Gorgeous! I have Harvest Mice, a very small colony of 3 Females and 2 Males. I have only had them 1 month. I have one very pregnant female already! unfortunatley I am not as good at photographing them as you - your photos are amazing.
They are very interesting and beautiful little critters which provide hours of entertainment!
Hope to see pics of your babies once the emerge from the nest | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
