| | | Rubbish Cats A neighbours black cat that comes in the garden is officially rubbish
Sat hiding behind the flower-pots it has just allowed a rat to hop from one end of the garden, sit on the ground feeder table, rummage around for its favourite food, then hop back into the bushes.........TWICE!
It came within 1 yard of the cat and all the useless thing did was SNIFF IT!!!........TWICE
It didn't even try to chase it off (which is what we hoped it might do),it just sat there
I must admit it is a biggun (parent )
It is now sat waiting for it to come back, why I don't know.
PS I have seen this cat lugging around anything from a sparrow to an adult rabbit - obiously scared of rats though |

| | | Re: Rubbish Cats Two ways to look at this; could have come off worse in a previous encounter with a rat, or it's playing the waiting game until the rat no longer sees the cat as a threat and gets just a little too close to pussy...........then wham, the rat is history.

| | | Re: Rubbish Cats Can't get much closer than 2 ft when it leant over and sniffed at it (the feeder is in the middle of the patio i.e. in the middle of the garden-no hiding places for 4 yards ).
My opinion is that its a Yellow Pussy Cat
Doesn't hold back on stuff that can't fight back though |

| | | Re: Rubbish Cats Perhaps your visitor is yellow but I prefer to keep an open mind.
I once watched as a fox closed in on a group of grazing rabbits. With only a small bush between it and a meal the fox was stopped in its tracks by a large buck, that casually positioned itself between the fox and the other rabbits. The two held eye contact for several minutes before the fox yawned and slowly backed off. I watched as it trotted away. A rat and a buck rabbit are capable of inflicting serious injury. Therfore I am reminded of a passage in Shakespears Henry IV ..... ' the better part of valour is discretion; in which better part I have saved my life.'
