I wouldn't be unduly worried, rats aren't an agressive animal and the biggest problem you tend to get with them is the damage they do by chewing things, spoiling food and of course the smell.
Unfortunately, rats are wary of new things, and putting down traps or poison doesn't have an immediate effect as they will tend to avoid it for the first few days.
If you are in a council property, presumably there are no constraints on you moving, so possibly the council will be able to deal with them once the property is empty next week? |
