| | | Amazing but true animal stories. Are there any of you out there who would like to share your recollections of amazing animals whom have achieved or done things far beyond normal expectations ie.
I faced several years of tests for a series of symptoms. Nothing was found and my complaint was put down to IBS. During this time a cat decided to take up residence in my house. Whenever she sat on my lap she would gently paw at part of my abdomen. I told my doctor who questioned if I was depressed. At a later date I consulted a different doctor who was a bit more sympathetic, she suggested a scan. There was a problem and I was able to show them the exact place to look because of the cat. How did the cat know? Was it just coincidence, non the less amazing. |

| | | Re: Amazing but true animal stories. just as well witch dunking has ended (well watford anyway), not really meaning anything deep , but whilst holidaying in cyprus 5-6 years ago, i was targeted for 7 consecutive nights by a praying mantis, whilst eating out at 4 different locations, in all that time no one else had one land on them, im asssuming it wasn't the same one, and they all landed on my right shoulder, it freaked me out the first time (an enormous bug landing on your shoulder) but after that it was kind of novel walking round with one , everybodies kids thought i was a lucky omen.
saying all that , my hire car blew up outside my appartment forcing an evacuation, and an enquiry by many various police and fire dept personnel, scary when you cant speak the language.
does that relate to an omen, who knows. |

They did a test on her to find known problems in patients and she got the area right most of the time. There have also been many cases of cats and dogs identifying problems in people in exactly this way; but it is really nice to get one first hand on a thread! I hope the problem has been solved by the way? |

| | | Re: Amazing but true animal stories. Hi again. Thought I'd give an example of my own. I suffer from OCD which takes the form of checking and not wanting to leave my house.
One time when I had to go out, I got in a state, and was sitting having hysterics and Mycat jumped up onto the back of my chair and proceeded to massage my scalp, very skillfully too.
And here is another. I ran out the back in a response to my birds making a fuss and as I shouted I saw Stoaty running out from beneath an old ivy covered stump. I rushed up to check that everyone was OK and there was a duck (Black East Indian) missing. Then I heard her. She was under the stump that Stoaty had run out of, and she sounded in distress and wasn't coming out. So I feared the worst! But when I looked she was tangled in the ivy and couldn't free herself. I gently unwound the ivy and found when I lifted her out that there was a bite on her foot.
Now stoats as has been pointed out are very efficient killers with a bite to the back of the neck. The only explanation that I can think of for a bite on the foot is that Stoaty was trying to free the struggling duck and nicked her foot by mistake.
Stoaty has often trotted across the garden when the ducks were around, and they startle at first but when they recognise him they usually follow curiously. Prey animal can certainly become friendly with predators. Hope ther'ell be some other anecdotes from people to back this up. |

| | | Re: Amazing but true animal stories. I am under control thanks. There have been so many lovely stories on your sites about the amazing things that animals do and the funny, crazy things thought it would be nice if we all got together to document them so we could all enjoy them.
We had a Norfolk terrier when the children were small, Betsy. Betsy liked to play football so the kids put her in an outgrown football outfit. Every time the football came out Betsy would run in pick up her kit in her mouth. The kids dressed her and she would tackle the ball leaping on the top and getting really into it. When the children went to school she knew when the bus had arrived in the village for their return and would run up and down excited. The bus stop was three streets away, but she knew.??? |

| | | Re: Amazing but true animal stories. There are more things on Heaven and Earth than we will ever understand in this life. Just accept it and enjoy.
I have been around much too long to discount or disbelieve anothers experiences.
I have come to realise that it is the dogged determination the for a thing to be accepted, it needs to be reproduced under controlled conditions at any time is real drug on real understanding and the reason why Western type of civilisation is catching on so fast and destroying our Earth.
It is easily marketable and it can`t be proved that this is harmful. It is also very attractive and no-one would invest money in another ideal. |

| | | Re: Amazing but true animal stories. big Dave, Just want a thread to enjoy, where you can post your stories on animals without having to prove or justify, sad, happy, something that any member can contribute or read. Have picked up some lovely animal stories on other threads that have been wasted in the debate between a few. This could provoke some into criticism but who cares if there are enough of us who enjoy the stories. Both stories so far have been sad, funny, lovely, enlightening and I am spending too much time on the computer today as I am enjoying it. Hope you do too |

| | Re: Amazing but true animal stories. Some years ago I had a cat and my neighbour had his brother. The brother disappeared at the age of about 7. At the age of 10 my cat (who was a once in a lifetime cat) was diagnosed with a stomach tumour and I lost him. I was heartbroken. About two weeks later - there was my cat asleep in his usual place in the garden (I thought I had lost my marbles!). Except it wasn't him but his brother who had reappeared after 3 years - he stayed 2 weeks and went again. Coincidence or what? Hope you continue in good health Brenda. |
