Whilst surveying for water vole, I encountered the remains of this crayfish:
It is the second particially eaten crayfish I've seen along this river and was wondering anyone had any suggestions on possible suspects?
My thoughts are either otter or mink - given that there are water voles about 200m downstream from here and there are juvenile moorhens nearby I suspect it's not the latter. I've also found an otter spraint about 1 mile away.
But I would really welcome the opinion of others on this board.
Thanks
Richard
