| | | Is This A Shrew??? Hi
Firstly apologises - the pic of the mammal which I think ia a shrew - is dead - I hope this doesn't offend - if so please delete and accept my apologises.
I had to take a pic as I have never seen anything like this mammal before - so my question is - is it a Shrew?
Please help |

| | | Re: Is This A Shrew??? It is a shrew, I can't take you any further than that, but I am sure someone will. They are such busy little blighters, and rely on a good supply of insects, mostly, that their lives can be short and hectic.

| | | Re: Is This A Shrew??? I always wonder if the reason we tend to find dead whole shrews lying about (rather than, say, dead whole mice) is because shrews taste so nasty and nothing much likes to gobble them up. When we had cats, I was always rescuing live ones from the back of the cupboards. |

| | Re: Is This A Shrew??? Thats correct vole-women shrews do taste bad this is why most predators wont eat them. The reason there tends to be an increase in dead shrews this time of year (I've seen about 4 over the last week) is because young unexperienced predators (e.g. foxes, weasels etc) dont know they taste bad but they soon learn their lesson! |
