| | | How to clean hedgehog house Can anyone advise a good cleaning product to use on my hedgehog house and his food and water bowls?
I have put newspaper down for him but he still manages to mess on the walls of the house.
Any ideas what I can use that will be safe for spike and wont ruin the wood?
Thanks |

| | | Re: How to clean hedgehog house I expect the hedgehog carers will have chapter and verse on this, but I would think that something like Milton, that one uses for sterilising babies' bottles, would do the job.

If it’s just for an outside hog-sleeper house, or hog-feeder house, I just use good old fashioned hot soapy water, then allow it to air-dry thoroughly. Gem83 you mention 'mess' in your hog house, so I assume you’re talking about a hog- feeder house. There are two easy options to keep the wood in your feeder-house clean:
1. Line the box with some wipeable fablon (previously known as sticky back plastic for those who remember having to cover school exercise books! ) then just line the floor with newspaper to stop hoggy from sliding about, or
2. Position some folded newspaper at right angles along the walls of your feeder, then line the floor with more newspaper to hold the angled newspaper in place, as per the example below, which I use in my hutches and feeders to keep the walls clean from food and poop and also in my sleeper-houses for added insulation.

| | | Re: How to clean hedgehog house Thanks Thunder and Thanks Hedgehoggy. I didn't know if soapy water would be sufficient. I will try arrangeing the newspaper differently too.
Is it ok to wash his bowls in soapy water if they are rinsed well?
I take it something like washing up liquid will do????? | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
