This tiny mouse has a taste for meal worms. Is it possible to identify it or shall I just refer to it as a generic 'field mouse' ?  |

Well this is where I get confused! I've seen Apodemus sylvaticus 'wood mouse' also referred to as 'field mouse' and 'long-tailed field mouse' which is why I thought it safe to refer to it as a field mouse. How many species of mouse do we have and how do I tell them apart? |

Certainly wood mouse is the same as field mouse, which is what the little chap is. |

Mouse naming can be complicated - some earlier (nineteenth century) books also named Voles as Field Mice!
