Mouse or Rat
Can anyone tell me if this is a mouse or a rat. Found outside on my decking very much dead

First reaction is a young rat too.

I think that will only be proved wrong if you photo the underside and it has different markings.

Unfortunetly it has since disappeared since I took the photo this morning. Have a feeling one of the local cats has had it.

I'd say rat.

It could have been taken by a corvid to feed young, maybe. I suppose it depends how fresh it was.

Our local pest controller says that rats are on the increase because of the fashion for decking, which are ideal for living under.
