| | | Urban fox attacks two babies while they sleep! Breaking news:
Fox creeps into house and attacks 9-month-old twin girls, leaving them in a serious condition! Baby twins injured in 'fox attack' - Yahoo! News UK
I must admit that I have been concerned that urban foxes are getting braver and less fearful of human contact in recent years (mainly out of concern for their welfare, not our children's). If this story is to be believed, and the police are not treating this case as suspicious, then I do wonder what the future is for the human-fox relationship. Should we be doing something to prevent the possibility of future attacks? Or are such incidents so rare as to be of little concern?
I just wondered what people here thought.

I cant imagine a fox being brave enough even to enter a house let alone try to take a baby or eat it.
Im sorry for the twins if its true but I hope this doesnt start an Urban fox cull! |

| | | Re: Urban fox attacks two babies while they sleep! A very suspicious story I thought - and the fox that got caught in the trap was euthanised. How did they know it was the same fox ? I also read the trap is still in place.
Up the stairs and into the bedroom - and attacked BOTH babies ?????
The babies are both in critical condition - how did it get that bad without the parents hearing their children cry ? |

| | | Re: Urban fox attacks two babies while they sleep! I fear this going to be paydirt for the pro fox hunting brigade. Already having an "interesting" conversation on twitter about this. Not sure I believe it was a fox, a dog is more likely. Also if you leave your doors open at night you run the risk of letting a far more dangerous animal into your home, like a human for instance. |

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
| If any of this is true, I think Scotland Yard should think again. It seems very unlikely to me, and therefore very suspicious.

| | | Re: Urban fox attacks two babies while they sleep! Me too. I first saw the story online last night and it seemed odd to me then. Perhaps it could have been pausible if the children were sleeping in the pram in the garden, but upstairs in a cot - it doesn't seem right.
Latest news on the radio said the garden of the house has been set with traps and one fox already been caught. If the attack was by a fox, how do they know they are going to catch the right one anyway. I hardly think they are going to DNA test it to see it left any traces on the kids!
Any mention of whether the family had a dog?
