| | | Water Vole moving its young I was carrying out a Water Vole survey last week, when I saw a Vole continuosly diving into an underwater burrow then emerging after about 15 seconds. I watched it do this for a good ten minutes, then it emerged with a young Vole in it's mouth, which it carried along the bank before diving again into another burrow. It then came back along the bank and collected another young one from the other side of the stream, which followed it before being picked up and carried underwater like the first one.
I managed to film most of what was happening, and it can be viewed at: YouTube - Water Vole moving Young |

| | | Re: Water Vole moving its young That's just superb! Thanks so much for sharing it. (I've never known a prey species dawdle as much as water voles do...)
You should send the film in to Springwatch. |

You should send the film in to Springwatch. | Yes, they certainly are very good mothers. |

I liked how the mum got impatient with her slow child and tried to carry him!
Was the first one alive btw? |
