| | | Re: Let's talk not fight. This thread should be shifted for starters to the outdoor activities. Afterall this is the wildlife section and not the hunters section.
Just so we know, Im not interested in dialogue on such topics, its a futile exercise, as someone questioned eariler on....what qualifications do you need to be a hunter.....unlike environmental professionals and scientific researchers who often find evidence exactly the opposite of the 'ideas and wisdom' offered from the hunting/bloodsports fraternity. Ulitimately, you can offer nothing to wildlife topics. Isnt there a compare your realtree forum?
Mod shift thread to the relevant place. |

however the rest of it is unmitigated bobbins and the idea that those who hunt have nothing to offer on wildlife topics is so laughable as to barely warrant a response.
and if you dont believe in dialogoue why did you even open this thread , given the title ?

I've only just signed up to this site. I'm trying both to learn from others and to pass on my not inconsiderable knowledge to those prepared to listen/read/learn.
It's cool so far. Let's keep it that way, OK?

It obviously offends you that anyone on a wildlife forum should take this stance. We know your stance on control from your overwhelming experience on the matter (please refer us to those papers in which journal exactly?). Killing foxes on a reserve for wading birds or whatever it was makes you as well informed and qualifiedto comment as the next bloke with a gun. I noted your excellent post on the fox thread!
Best we dont debate eeyore as frankly your opinion of yourself gets right on my wick.
Regards, Matt. |

Captivebolt (not a blood crazed mass murderer honest!) | Fair play Captive,
You posted in the wrong place, cant question your experience with wildlife, though quite what that has to do with your opening post is lost on me. All weve learnt is that you have no problem with shooting 'pests'. |

With thanks to Douglas Adams,
Captivebolt aka the mad blood thirsty slavering brutal sadistic killer. I must show someone my favourite wood ant nest. There aren't any in Leicestershire? Bet? Great crested newts? None of them either? Bet? My pet water vole site, two breeding pairs? A site where up to 1000 ladybirds, and they ain't harlequins, overwinter?
Sorry guys, got a bit carried away there. Just wanted to show that not all hunters are iggerant.

Regards, Matt. | actually matt i do have a couple of published articles on the matter - one was in british wildlife, and one was in enact - can you say the same ? Also you clearly dont know my stance on the subject as you would prefer to believe that everyone who hunts or controls is the same (thats what happens when you prefer to listen to your own predjudices rather than constructive dialogue with those with whom you disagree)
for the record my position is that i dont agree with killing anything purely for leisure sports, or enjoyment, but feel that it is sometimes unavoidable in the pursuit of conservation, agriculture and food, and the preservation of human health. I also feel that such control should only be carried out by those who are competent and by humane methods only.
i'm not offended in the slightest by whatever stance you might choose to take, it is afterall a free country, but i do find it laughingly ironic that you have the cojones to criticise my opinion of myself in the same post in which you claim you have nothing to learn from the otherside of the debate and thus no interest in dialogue. People who live in glasshouses shouldnt throw stones

back on the original topic you have a good point that the moderates on both sides of the debate are not that far apart , but you will never convince extremists in either camp that that is the case.

cptvb | Rather fitting for a thread titled 'Let's talk not fight'
Probably best to close the thread I think!
