| | | Please confirm these are Hare's Hello
Out walking this evening and saw 2 what I believe are hares. I was watching an heron, when I noticed to two brown shapes in a bare patch of crops/grass. I expected to see rabbits or pattridgethat I could hear calling. I watched the hares for several minutes but the light was against me at around 2030 so the pics are not great. My viewing was disturbed by the police helicopter flying away from the M1 causing the patridge to fly up and the hares to run off!
Please confirm the ID and also is the one on the left male because it looks larger.
Cheers

Only figures I can lay my hands on at the moment imply that there is little size difference between male and female, though females are in general a little heavier.
Nice pictures.

henrya | Cheers, there is a lot of noise in the pics due to the low light etc but they are OK for record shots.
I couldn't find any info about sexing without looking for the obvious bits!
When googling I cam across the Hare Preservation Trust does anybody know anything about this group they have a section about reporting sightings but I havn't put anything on yet until I found more out more about the group. Hare Preservation Trust |
