dormouse survey plea

Hi,

I'm co-ordinating a dormouse survey in Leicestershire and Rutland and I need help big time. Over the past 50 years there have been on average, a dormouse record every ten years. However, the last one was now about 13 years ago! Is there anyone out there who has a record or anecdotal memory of these creatures in this region. Please help.

There are very few records for dormice on the National Dormouse Database in Leicestershire but there is one from 2004 in Pickford Wood. The southeast part of the county is also close to a dormouse release site in Cambridgeshire and it would be very useful to check for dormouse presence in Wakerley great wood and surrounding copses.

The National Great Nut hunt is being run again from August 2010 and this might help your efforts for more local records.
