Deer Study Proposal Advice needed

Hello,

I have a passion for watching the deer in a mixed woodland of 500+ acres owned by FC.

I would like to study them more formally by:
Identifying what species there are - Records show fallow and muntjac but are there others?
What compartments they inhabit - Where are they dispersed in the wood? Seperate groups?

I am not trained or qualified in anything ecology/environment related but my passion is there and I am learning through reading and being out in the woods.

I plan to put a research proposal to the FC as they may be interested in the work. I know they will probably have a Deer Management Plan but how up to date and accurate is it? And, perhaps if they share a copy, my work could support or add to it.

Is there anything, as an amateur that yourselves could give me advice on? Any comments will be appriciated.
