Sad tale of a young grey squirrel

This morning I discovered a very young grey squirrel hiding in my bluebells, it was making a lot of noise but not moving so I picked it up by the tail (wearing my stove gauntlets!) and placed it in an ivy covered tree. It didn't move much and next thing it was on the ground crawling around. All the cats started to show interest but only looked, didn't touch. The next time I saw it was hardly moving and one of the neighbours cats deposited it on our doorstep where it remained not moving until it died just a few minutes ago.

I know they are vermin but it was a very short life and I am feeling quite sad about it. RIP little fellow

Yes, that is sad. They may be 'vermin' to some, but either way it's a sad story. Maybe it was unwell from birth.
