Otters

Went to my local patch bright and early this morning mainly for that loveliest of sounds, the dawn chorus. I did hope to see the otters that have been resident for a while now, and I wasn't disappointed. It'd brilliant to watch these amazing creatures in the North of Lincolnshire.

Took a few pics, but they're not brilliant, as the otters were a shade too far for me 400mm. But I'm happy.

I wish I was good at getting up early in the morning. I seem to manage it when I'm on holiday but not when I'm at home. It certainly paid off for you, I'd have been over the moon seeing otters that close to home.

Funny thing is, is that I don't mind getting early noe I don't work. I hated 6-2 shift.

A 15 minute drive eh? Two weeks ago I drove from Buckinghamshire all the way to Mull just to see otters.

I have tried locations closer to home but with little success (probably because I'm not there early enough). I think I saw one near Marlow last year but can't be sure it wasn't a mink.

I was there early today and they were spotted briefly but at a distance. By 08:15 the place was getting rather crowded with people trying to get a look at them.

It's not luck mate. This pair have been at Messingham quite a while now, so it's just patience waiting for one or the other, or both, to put in an appearance.
