| | | What to do with dead wild deer in field? I've found a dead wild deer in our field. The council only seem to deal with it if it's road-kill. And the rspca only deal with animals that are still alive. I can't see the cause of it's death. Animals have started to eat the poor thing. I'm worried that it may be harmful to leave it there, but have no idea what to do with it? Does anyone have any advice? Thanks. |

Wonderful how nature is quite good at cleaning itself up. |

Leave it for the other carnivors to eat, but if it distresses you, or you need it moved for any other reason, you could tie a rope round it's legs and drag it to under the hedge or somewhere similar where it's out of your way. As said many animals and birds need it especially this time of year for their babies. It would be an ideal opportunity to do some animal/bird/insect etc. observations and photography, with that valued 'bait' there...Posie.. |

Thanks for all your replies. I had wondered about just leaving it, for nature to run it's course. Just wasn't sure. Luckily I can avoid it so don't have to move it. An interesting idea about taking photography - especially as I'm sure that the beautiful Red Kites will be enjoying a feast! It makes me feel happy that the sad death of a wild deer can be of benefit for the other beautiful wildlife.
Thanks again

| | | Re: What to do with dead wild deer in field? Thanks Posie,
Luckily for me, it's right on the other side of the field - away from all buildings and the bridle path/footpath. And I can keep my dogs away from it. Thankfully it couldn't be in a better place. If it happens again, nearer the above - then I'll definitely have to move it. Fingers crossed that never happens!
Cheers

Should be interesting, you'll have the crow family chasing other species off, you might even see foxes gnawing joints off to take to feed cubs in their den. etc, etc. I suppose birds of prey do eat carrion as well .You are in for a very interesting time, let us know what you see, Laura....Posie. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
