Who Lives Here ?

I was walking alongside a stream today looking for signs of a bird's presence, (it was a Dipper). Whilst studying the bank I came across these holes and wondered what made/lives in them.

Hi SuzieandFlo, there are holes just like those in the stream bank near me. I have seen water voles in the stream so i presumed they lived in them.

Im not completely certain though someone will tell us soon hopefully

How big are they? do you get kingfishers or sand martins? the holes in the grass could be field vole but I would need to see a closer shot of one of them.

The ones in the bank don't look quite neat enough for water vole burrows, though they're in the right sort of position.
