Rat poo?

I recently found a couple of holes in the garden which I am assuming are rat holes, as the local cats have been staking them out.

Hanging out the washing I spotted some animal poo that certainly isn't cat (too small), but don't think it is rat either. Don't they leave pelleted droppings?



I have ferrets, kept indoors, and this looks similar, but darker.
Also seem to remember hedgehog poo might be similar.
I am all confuzled now

If it is hedgehog I shall be over the moon

Looks like hedgehog to me, we get this in our garden too

Bit of a nuisance with the dogs though as they love to roll in it!

...I forgot to say that if you put some ferret spoil ie.Poo and urine, it will stop the rats( if any ) getting established...But I don't know if this would put Hedgehogs off as well so 'sorry' ignore that idea...Posie..

I've heard that about rats and ferret poo too
It was on my list of 'to do'.

Doesn't seem to bother the mice in the bin shed tho!

I have always thought my garden was missing hedgehogs, I've been growing a wood pile for ages (3 years or so! )
and the pond is ready ramped just in case

...I would guess that it's as much the urine smell as the poo, 'cos it's urine used for marking , unless thats because wee is more easily available to do than to keep on poo-ing every so many metres. Rat poo is made up of much smaller pellets.

I'm really envious you have a hoggy in your garden!

Definately looks like hog poo to me...inherited several hogs with my property last year..how many this year I'm not sure as recent clearing and new neighbours with radical (non nature) ideas have taken their toll...

There are dogs both sides of mine, and a playing field at the back. I have the wildest garden round here tho

Everyone else seems to have a very good relationship with their mower!

Ah well, I'll keep me fingers crossed it returns !
