Just a quick update on Lippy -
Well the homeopathic "cure" was short lived

- and despite getting 3 different types of homeopathic medicine nothing stopped the mange after it came back. (which has been posted by others here)
The tail fur had grown back - but after a while he was gnawing at it again - making it bleed quite badly (one morning my patio was covered in blood) and before long it was bald again - as were his paws and his back rump.
Luckily I was eventually able to get "proper" medicine this time and the mange seems to be a thing of the past for 6 months at least - waiting for the hair to grow back on the tail.
Unfortunately, he is still quite a sickly fox.
He has gone through having a permanent limp (until a couple of doses of arnica seems to have helped - only a sometimes-limp now)
He seems to have a bit of conjunctivitis (as does the other younger fox visitor - naughty naughty girl - but that is another post

) - and last week one eye was totally swollen and stuck closed. After a quick scratch

it opened but was weepy - this week it seems to be OK - BUT
His (already injured) mouth now seems to be playing up this last couple of days - it seems to be partly open all the time - this morning a bit dribbly - he is eating - but with difficulty (I don't know whether he can actually catch any live prey - or just eats out of the rubbish bins and old boxes of KFC bones that people throw in the street when they are finished). I am wondering if he has been stung on his mouth - as this injury was evident in May 2009 when I first photographed him.
He is also very smelly (sometimes) - dirty doggy smell (not the urine/spray smell) - only noticed this since he had the Mange treatment. and the last week or so there are flies landing on him when he is eating - which he hates and he runs away (especially if they land on his bald tail).
I suppose all these "illnesses" and injuries are quite commonplace and perhaps it is just because I see him every day I am noticing them more. Hopefully this sore mouth will clear itself up as the conjunctivitis did.
He is still lively and runs away if disturbed and I don't want him caught and taken away as I have been feeding daily since March and can continue to do so UNLESS I am doing the wrong thing keeping him going through this suffering.
I must say he is a bit like a "pet" now and as I work from my garden daily, he is always out there with me curled up asleep under a bush somewhere (although I don't touch him - but he sometimes takes honey sandwiches from my hand if I don't break them up quick enough for him and the other day he put his mouth gently on my hand as I was mashing up his dog food (bless !)).
So that's all for now
