| | | Cheeky Wood Mouse I have a large Holly tree in front and to the side of my front bay window into which I have clipped a small hole and placed a feeder so we can watch the birds feed in the comfort of our living room. It took a little time but the birds eventually took to it and are quite happy to feed there all day sometimes, the other day this cheeky chappie turned up and started munching away. He has probaly been feeding underneath on the bits the birds drop but has now decided to come and get it first hand so to speak. (sorry the picture was taken thru the glass with the sun to the side so its a bit hazy) |

I have 2 here and they're both pretty tame now, still skittish but friendly. I even taught the girl to not bite with very very gentle taps on her nose if she nibbled too much, now she actually just pushes my hand away her paw if she's not amused. |

| | | Re: Cheeky Wood Mouse How endearing! We have a mouse, the species of which is in doubt, who also climbs trees to get at bird feeders! He really has to climb, it's about 6ft off the ground, and hung on a fairly thin branch in a tree, but often I'll go out for a bedtime cigarette and see him sitting on his lofty perch. The way you say they can be tamed suggests a far greater level of intellegence than most would give mice credit for! They're certainly resourceful chappies. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
