Last year whilst out in the New Forest with the dog, i came across a couple of sheets of black plastic corrugated lying in dense undergrowth, no doubt put there by the forestry commision especially for wildlife.
When i looked then, under one sheet was nothing, the other was home to a rather nice grass snake, not having the camera with me i just replaced the sheet and left.
Today whilst walking with my new puppy, i decided to take a look under the sheets, this time armed with the camera.
Trying to hold on to the puppy, plus camera and waiting for the sun to come out from the clouds also at the same time lift the sheet in the hope of photographing anthing underneath was not at all easy, but at least i got off a couple of shots.
There were about 10 of these little chaps but most scarpered down to the ditch when i disturbed the sheet, so what you can see is all i could get to stay still long enough for a shot.
By the way, under the other sheet was nothing.
The best of a bad pair of shots.
