Not to steal the thread but has anyone seen those mice on the tubes, have often wondered if they are woodmice or housemice and whether references to these two species are one and the same, does anyone know?

Yes I've seen them they're great!! I think they are house mice smaller ears and no white tummy visible...

wood mice are different, but I understand that they are also known as field mice which is a touch confusing - but there you go!

Yes, the mice on the London Underground are House Mice. (At least, in Central London). I've seen them foraging in the tracks, and once saw one rushing along one of the subways. Lots of people didn't notice them (or were too used to them to react) but it did cause a few (all female, I feel impelled to say!) shrieks.

Don't forget when you let them go, you can't let them go right outside the house or they will just come right back. You have to let them go 2-5 miles away from you house. (if you do decide to let them go)

once again the cat has bought a pressie... a small mouse. black and white... i have placed it in a box with water and food and bedding... bless will have to see how it is in the morning... did try to let it go tonight but it just went to the corner of the decking and sat there so i did not want the cat to find him again... the last one we kept as he kept going round in circle when i try to let him go... he was really sweet. all the kids held him and he finaly died four weeks later... i have held this one to ...
