| | | Best county for Wildlife I plan on moving to England during the fall of this year, and I would like to move to a place that has lots of wildlife, since I'm a veterinarian/zoologist/nature photographer. The animals I'd like to see often would be foxes, otters, and hedgehogs.
Of course please pick counties/cities that are very nice to live, and the counties I was thinking of moving to include; Essex, Hampshire, Devon, Kent, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Dorset, Sussex, and Cumbria. Main cities I was thinking of moving to are Chelmsford, Canterbury, and Winchester.
Thanks! |

| | | Re: Best county for Wildlife I think I'd be giving Chelmsford a rather wide swerve. Canterbury has seen better days too, and looks set to plummet further. Winchester is nice place and you are ideally situated for some great days out down there.
Given the choice I'd do Cumbria or Devon

| | | Re: Best county for Wildlife I might be biased but come to Yorkshire.Something for every one and the motorways link all the major towns so living in a smaller more friendly (for wildlife and people)town is more convenient.Personally I'd stay away from all the major cities but thats just my preferrece.

shenk1 | Yorkshire is not on the list but that would be my first choice if it was. As a county its a different grade

| | | Re: Best county for Wildlife Yorkshire people are fab but oh the weather. I'd stick to the south coast, Cornwall (eeeek for transport links and mega-loads of tourists in the summer), Devon (getting better), Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire, Wiltshire.
Winchester sounds cool. Salisbury? |

Winchester sounds cool. Salisbury? | The weather is what makes Yorkshire. If you invest in decent clothing it should not be a problem.
