| | Where to See Red Deer? Hi, as I live in a village south of Glasgow we only get Roe deer around us and I've only ever seen one other deer (Chinese Water Deer) in Britain, so I'm desperate to see a Red Deer and was wondering, since I live in Scotland where is the best place to see them, and what time of year? |

| | | Re: Where to See Red Deer? How far are you willing to travel? Scotland is a stronghold for them. Most upland sites have them such as the highlands and the Galloway hills. |

| | | Re: Where to See Red Deer? Presume you want to see them in the wild, but if you just want to see one, there's a deer farm in Auchtermuchty, Fife. It has a visitor centre.

As you can see you would probably see red kites too. |

| | | Re: Where to See Red Deer? 'Tis true I tell ye !
In Scotland their diet is mainly moss, but here (near RSPB Minsmere) where we have a herd of 200+ their diet is more varied resulting in better growth.

| | | Re: Where to See Red Deer? Hi synn i was on the A83 just past the 'rest and be thankful' spot (its a car park looking into a vally and alot of hill walks start there) we were in the car just past that and i seen a few red deer near the trees not that far from the road and on the return trip home we stopped the car so i could take some pictures and we seen one of the stags coming out the trees by its self. just thought i would let you know its not that far away from glasgow (53 miles, 1h, 13 mins). not use if this is any help but thought i would let you know anyway. joe | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
