| | | Struy, Glen Affric Hi. Off on the annual photography trip to Scotland soon. Have done Rothiemurchus/Speyside and the Glenlivet Estate and am staying in Struy near Glen Affric this time. Any tips, advice of where to go? Looking for Mountain Hare in particular.
Many thanks

| | | Re: Struy, Glen Affric Glen Affric is a beautiful glen particularly in Autumn. You can expect to see golden eagle and red deer. Not sure about the mountain hare.
The A835 to Ullapool is mountainous and scenic. There are a couple of good fish & chip shops in Ullapool.
If you can find the time ( a couple of hours from Struy ) then a trip to Glenelg ( over Mam Ratagan from Sheil Bridge ) is rewarding for the photographer. Weather needs to be good to view the wonderful scenery.
Have you ever been down the North West coast of the Highlands? Thoroughly recommend it. You'll never put your camera away.
As a matter of interest you'll find mountain hares, in their Winter coats, in Glenshee. Nowhere near Struy I know but something to remember. |

M | Findhorn Valley should have mountain hares, the problem will be finding them! I took part in a census of them in the Peak District last year and they are tricky beasts to spot. Strathconon is a good spot too, I had a golden eagle fly 2 metres above my head 6 weeks ago - I now know how a mountain hare feels! |
