I am going to look for wild boar in the forest of dean can anyone give advice on how to spot them please? |

You creep up to them from behind, then when you are within 2 metres fire with your paint ball gun.

Find their spore and climb a tree and wait ... a long time... eat your sandwiches, drink your coffee/tea, empty your hip-flask, die for the loo, finally succumb to the call, climb down your tree, find a convenient spot, perform the act, return to tree and the damned critters have been and gone.
