Well done to Bob for snapping it, 'cos the poor little beggar doesn't have a hope in surviving the wild for long I suspect.... |

Perhaps we all have it completely wrong. This is in fact a normal White squirrel, and all the others are erythristic white squirrels?
In any case, if he won't survive due to predators, he needs to reproduce quickly and have hybrid offspring with a melanistic red squirrel (or melanistic white squirrel if my other theory is correct). Then his offspring might be something camouflaged like this Zebra squirrel ?
