| | | foxes screaming. I was woken by the foxes screaming at 4 o'clock this morning. We hadn't seen any signs of them over this cold spell. They have raised cubs in the garden before so hoping that my garden is going to be seeing little foxes again this year .

| | | Re: foxes screaming. Had the fright of my life yesterday morning @6 oclock..had just got back from dropping the husband off a the bus stop & was walking down our drive ( we live in the middle of nowhere in the middle of a field!)to shut the gate...and then it started...the screaming!!!!Luckily I knew what it was!!
There were 2 of them across the field..I could see their eyes shining in my torch light!!
I always thought only the vixen 'screamed' or am I wrong!
Gotta be one of the most 'unearthly' noises ever!
Have seen a fox hanging round here a bit looking for food when it was really cold..but before that had only seen them rarely..I think someone shoots them here!
I really hope though that this means we will have the patter of tiny paws around here!

| | | Re: foxes screaming. Screaming Foxes can be a particularly scary experience when you hear it fro the first time and when it wakes you up in the middle of night!
Fortunately I now know that the screams come from our local Foxes.
Last night they started exceptionally early (7.30 p.m.) so no interrupted sleep!

| | | Re: foxes screaming. the foxes in my area have totally stopped calling and making any noise about three weeks back but have seen a dog fox in the last week in my garden area at night, they are urban foxes. Could they have gone quite through now breeding? |

| | | Re: foxes screaming. Hi Rainbowrussel, it is just the females that scream, as far as I am aware. Very eerie, when I lived inthe country I use to get a bit of a fright when I heard the vixen screaming.
