| | | Sabre tooth rabbit This poor old rabbit had the longest bottom tooth I have ever seen it must have been approx 2 inch long. I am aware that excessive tooth growth in domestic rabbits can be a result of poor diet, but it is the first time I have seen it in a wild rabbit. I would have thought the rabbit would have starved to death but it was not showing any signs of starvation etc. |

| | | Re: Sabre tooth rabbit The tooth needs to be cut and filed, his back teeth are almost down his throat and these should also be checked, some back teeth can grow through the top of his mouth, the back teeth need to be done by a vet. Pauline. |

| | | Re: Sabre tooth rabbit Thanks Pauline
Unfortunately I confiscated the rabbit from a couple of lads who had been out lamping on a golf course without permission. If the rabbit had been alive it would certainly have been in need of dental care. I am surprised the rabbit appeared healthy and had survived with such a disability. |

| | | Re: Sabre tooth rabbit His teeth had obviously become mis-aligned for some reason, so they didn't wear down evenly. Might have been a hereditary deformity, so perhaps just as well he's gone so as not to breed anymore. |

| | | Re: Sabre tooth rabbit I've caught several like that over the years, including one where the bottom teeth had grown up through the top lip poor thing.
